Meet Dr. Gurj Kalay, DC
My name is Gurjinder Singh Kalay, though most of my patients know me as Gurj, Dr. Gurj, or Dr. Kalay. I was born and raised in Yuba City, California, in a Punjabi immigrant family. My parents made tremendous sacrifices—putting aside their own wants to ensure their children had every opportunity to succeed and build a better future. Their work ethic and selflessness continue to inspire me every day and fuel my drive to be the best version of myself.
Growing up in a household where English was not the primary language came with its challenges. From a young age, I often accompanied my parents to medical appointments to translate for them. Those experiences had a profound impact on me and ultimately shaped my career path. I realized early on that language should never be a barrier to receiving quality healthcare. That realization became one of the main reasons I chose to pursue a career as a healthcare provider and return to serve the very community that raised me.
Our Project
I am the youngest of three siblings, and my two older sisters have played a major role in shaping who I am today. I graduated from Yuba City High School in 2005, attended Yuba College, and later transferred to California State University, Chico. It was during my time at Chico State that I discovered my passion for chiropractic care. I went on to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, where I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2014.
In 2015, shortly after graduating, I married my best friend and the love of my life. I began my professional career as a chiropractic associate in Yuba City, where I spent two years gaining hands-on experience and building relationships within the community. In January 2017, with the encouragement and support of my patients, friends, and family, I took a leap of faith and opened my own practice, Yuba-Sutter Chiropractic.
Opening my own clinic before the age of 30 was a personal goal of mine, and achieving it remains one of my proudest accomplishments. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to building one of the premier chiropractic offices in the region. Thanks to the trust and support of our incredible patients, our office has been voted Best of Yuba-Sutter-Colusa multiple times. These recognitions motivate my team and me to continually raise the standard of care and serve our community with excellence.
As a father of three beautiful daughters, I strive to lead by example—showing them that with hard work, resilience, and purpose, anything is possible. In our office, we take pride in treating every patient like family, and that commitment is reflected in the relationships we’ve built and the feedback we receive.
I’ve had the privilege of serving the Yuba-Sutter community for over 12 years, and I look forward to continuing to provide high-quality chiropractic care for many years to come.
Outside of the office, I enjoy connecting with others, networking, and staying active. I’m a passionate sports fan—especially when it comes to Manchester United and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—and I value spending time with friends and family. At home, I proudly embrace my roles as a husband (often the most annoying one, according to my wife!) and a “girl dad” to three amazing daughters—where I do my best to be their everyday superhero
Meet Angelica, Receptionist
My name is Angelica Ortiz, but everyone calls me Angie. I’ve been living in the Yuba Sutter area for the past 20 years and I’m a Yuba City High School alum. I’ve been working at Yuba Sutter Chiropractic as a receptionist since 2019 and love interacting with our patients.
I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, and in my spare time, I love hanging out with my family and giving back to our community by volunteering with numerous local non-profit organizations.
Meet Susi, Chiropractic Tech
Hi my name is Susi, I’ve been a resident of the Yuba City area for more then 20 years. Graduated from Yuba City High School, and got my first job in the medical field as a dental assistant in 2010.
During those 15+ years I learned to form good relationships with patients, and on continuing to give my best in this new job as well. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, and also enjoy challenging myself with new home projects. I hope to give patients the welcoming, and friendly environment that they are looking for when they come in to be treated.
